The Lusanda Dumke Foundation was founded by a Springboks women’s rugby player from Cebe kuCentane in the Eastern Cape. She was the last of five children raised by a single mother, who died when she was twelve. Leaving her in the care of her older sister in Masibambane, an informal village in Mdantsane nr 10. “Life was difficult growing up, but I was able to capture great moments through athletics. And the more I played, the happier I got and the more hopeful I was about the future. I established this foundation to instill hope. Hope for people who have nothing, to discover their purpose, grow it, and live the life of their dreams. I have numerous people that helped me grow, learn my profession, and believe in my abilities, some of whom I know and some I don’t. So I founded this organisation to give people what I was given: “Hope” because “Manus Manum Lavat” isandla sihlamba esinye”.
